His education, his career
Born into a strongly artistic family (both her parents were art teachers), Blythe understood very early on that a creative path was essential, even essential, for her.
After high school, she was lucky enough to be accepted into the prestigious Glasgow School of Art, where she graduated with honors, in 1991. A few years later, she received her postgraduate degree with honors in art and design. from Strathclyde University, Glasgow.
Since then, Blythe has traveled widely, lived in many cities around the world and worked as a decorative arts artist, painter, gallery owner and passionate teacher to adults and children. Today, she devotes all her time to her painting and exhibits her works in galleries in Western and Eastern Canada. His paintings can be found in public and private collections in North America, Asia, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and Iceland.

His work, his art
Blythe Scott describes herself with conviction as a mixed media artist. Whether she focuses on landscapes, city scenes or still life, the harmony of colors, interest in texture and a whimsical touch always occupy an important place in her works.
Blythe Scott's work is based on rigorous drawing. A happy marriage of watercolour, acrylic and collage, much of his subject matter is created through the application of textured pastes, stucco, sand and sheet metal collage. All of this creates a solid composition, but also ensures textural intrigue, even in the surface layers. A convincing line and an extensive repertoire of erasures add strong emotional content to his works.
Influenced by her childhood in an architecturally rich city and by her travels, Blythe painted European city scenes and architectural details for many years. Her arrival in Canada encouraged her to take a fresh look at the landscape by establishing a link between architecture and the surrounding natural setting. In his works, the context now occupies a more important place than the buildings themselves.
“ Although my starting point is reality, my paintings are mostly works of fiction. I want to present a positive and inspiring view of the world, with a je-ne-sais-quoi borrowed from dreams. I strive to leave the observer with a sense of well-being and an impression that the world is a good place to live. »
Blythe Scott has been represented by the Au P'tit Bonheur Art Gallery since July 2018, exclusively for Canada.
